Meet the Creator

Crochella Creations LLC History

Hello Everybody!

Athena here, the hand behind the creations. I wanted to take a moment and introduce myself and how Crochella Creations LLC came into fruition.

I learned to crochet around 11 years old when my cousin Danette "Net" gifted me a handmade crocheted halloween candy bag. I will never forget how amazing I thought it was that something could be made from just yarn. I spent a few weeks that summer at my Aunt Barb's house where my cousin Net began to teach me to crochet.

The first thing I learned to do was to make a basic foundation chain. I repeated this stitch over and over until I had used up all the yarn. Finally, I thought, maybe I should learn to turn around. From there my very first ever crocheted creation was a camouflage blanket for my step father. I was horrible at keeping count of my stiches and the first result was a "blanket" that was about the length of his truck. I learned the hard way of having to pull a project apart and start all over. My second attempt was better, but it had its flaws. Because I was horrible at keeping count, I repeatedly would drop stitches when ending and starting a new row. This resulted in a blanket that started out perfect in size and ended perfectly to the width of your feet at the end; a triangle if you will. This is a blanket my step father still has today.

My crochet journey took a pause and it wasn't until years later that I picked up a hook again.

 Fast Forward to 2020

2020 was the year everything changed for not only myself, but also the world around us. With COVID causing daily restrictions, many individuals looked for ways to occupy their time. This year just so happened to also be the year of the most people I knew having babies. I began crocheting baby blankets as gifts for expectant mothers and fathers that I knew. I challenged myself with each blanket to try a new pattern that I had never done before. After crocheting about 6 different blankets, a coworker commissioned me to make a cow blanket that not only required a graph to be followed for the pattern, but also required amigurumi pieces to make it look like a cow once folded. This was my most challenging blanket to do, but it also opened the door to me making more amigurumi products. Summer of 2020 I decided to return back to school to complete my Associate's Degree at Lakeshore Technical College; this was the beginning to the creation of Crochella Creations LLC.

Crochella Creations LLC in the Making

Spring of 2021 as part of my Associate's Degree required me to take a class, Web Technologies. In this class we were given instructions to create a "fake" business. From this fake business, we learned to HTML code our own websites, create social media platforms, and learned how other technology could be involved in a business. It was with this course, that Crochella Creations originally came to light.

I wanted to create a business that combined my love for crochet and my new found interest in amigurumi and making a difference. The idea, "making a difference one stitch at a time". The ultimate goal of the business is to help raise awareness for different organizations and causes and donate partial profits each month to a new organization. Along with partial profit donations, specific amigurumi would also be made that could be purchased by customers and then would be donated to the local foster system, domestic abuse shelter, or local hospitals.

The business idea continued into Fall of 2022 with my marketing class where I had to create a marketing plan for a business; in turn I used Crochella Creations once again to not only complete my assignment but dig deeper in the thought of being a storefront business one day.

Fast Forward to Today

Since my original thought of Crochella Creations, I have marketed the business on three social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok. Within my first year I was able to profit $600 and donate $100 towards the Mental Health Association. I continue to try to find new ways to market my products and offer my items in two consignment spaces in Sheboygan Wisconsin. I hope to be able to participate in more vendor shows to increase awareness and donate to more organizations.

2023 Goals include: $1,000 in sales and donating $400 to at least 4 organizations and to also increase social media following platforms by 10%.

Don't forget to like and follow Crochella Creations on social media to stay up to date on the latest creations and ways to make a difference.
